OUR NEED FOR WATER

Did you know that a human being could survive without any food for over a month. But no one can live for more than a week without water! Every living thing needs water for its body to work properly and to stay alive. Water helps to break down the foods that you eat. It works with certain chemicals in your body to turn this food into energy so you can grow and stay healthy. These chemicals will only work in water.

Your body also needs water to get rid of things it doesn't need. Through regular breathing and sweat, you lose water from your body. You must take in about two and a half quarts of water every day to stay healthy; that's 10 cups of water!Some of the water you need is in the foods you eat. The rest must come from what you drink.
